Problems with SQL plugin timing out.. doesn't appear to be a sql performance issue

We have the following defined in datasource

validationQuery="Select 1"
         removeAbandoned="true"
         removeAbandonedTimeout="600"

However, whenever I look at SQL on the database end, it doesn't even show up. So it's not clear what the delay is.

Is there any way to troubleshoot?

Can you open an issue and provide more details. What version of plugin and Confluence? What database? Perhaps logging might help - How to log SQL activity.
