RSS feeds with HTTPS confluence

Hi folks!

We're using confluence 5.1.3 and we want to configure a page/space to inform our customers that a new version of our products is released.

The first approach is to use a a RSS feed macro in a page, and then ask our customers to subscribe via Outlook or other RSS client. But out site is running 100% over https, and RSS feed macro seems to have some issues in this environment. I want to avoid allowing access through http.

Another approach is with the blog posts macro, and watching that page. But we haven't configured confluence to send emails, and we prefer the RSS feeds over email sending ...

Is there any other option to create a rss feed ... or other different approach ?

Hi Alex!

I've found a workaround, but it requeires to also enable HTTP protocol.

So the RSS requests will be redirect via firewall directly to HTTP while the rest of the content can remain using HTTPS:

Hi Alex,

AFAIK, this is a limitation of SSL with RSS feeds. I couldn't find a way to bypass the SSL with the RSS instead of using that way you noted.

I'll leave this question open so if someone knows a way to do that, can asnwer here.

Where can I read more about this limitation? is in the HTTPS protocol? or RSS? I can't figure out why this can't work ...
