Anyone that have a backupsoftware that backup all the product we use,
Confluence (Standard)
Jira Service Management (Standard)
Jira Software (Premium)
Atlas (It's free Plan for the moment)

I know that Attlassian have a backup manager but I am not sure if that takes everything. And I want to backup and restore it on a on prem server if we need.

Hi @reine.sandgren,

For data protecting your Atlassian  Data you have two broad options, each of them has its own pluses and minuses and your choice would depend on the risk appetite and budget your company has.

  1. DIY (Do it your self)
    • Data backup using scripts as pointed out by @Evgenii, of course the API's used in these scripts are private API's, which means there is a risk of those API's not functioning and support being available for them. Another thing to consider is the volume of data you have in your site as there are reliability issues with the private API's based script for large data sets
    • Data restore is a bit more challenging, it depends on the use case you are trying to address - If you are going after the Disaster Recovery use case where-in your entire site is down due to infra issues, then using the complete backup you you made will help address that use case, also keep in mind if it is an infra issue Atlassian will be responsible for getting your data back incase of infra related issues. On the other hand if you are thinking of restore use cases where in you want to restore back a couple issues or a couple projects etc.. this is going to be very hard with the scripts
  2. Use a SaaS Data Protection service
    • There are multiple vendors including Revyz which offer data protection, with granular data recovery, of course, it does not come for free

I am part of Revyz and our Data Manager for Jira App helps address multiple use cases:

  • Protect | Backup & Restore | all Jira project types (JSW, JSM, etc. including Assets)
  • Manage | Cloud-2-Cloud data Cloning | example use case: sandbox to prod
  • Analyze | Jira site analytics for the Administrator
  • Optimize | Jira site optimization | example use cleanup of jira site, easily delete unwanted configuration

You can find the Revyz Data Manager for Jira in the Atlassian Marketplace.

I am happy to do a demo or talk to you about the pros and cons of the above options.

Thanks

Vish

Hi @reine.sandgren ,

Regarding backup software, you can take a look at GitProtect, a backup & recovery software for Jira Software, Jira Service Manager, Jira Work Manager, and Confluence (soon).

The backup solution offers two deployment models: SaaS and On-Premise, so it can meet your requirements.

Find GitProtect on the Atlassian marketplace: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1228719/gitprotect-io-backups-for-jira-cloud?hosting=cloud&tab=overview

Hi, @reine.sandgren

Atlassian has such documentation, about custom backups

https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirakb/automate-backups-for-jira-cloud-779160659.html

It's not Atlassian backup tool, maybe it will suit you.
