is there a way to add own icons to the 'table of content' macro?

Where do you want to include that icon: On the confluence page, in the exported PDF or in the macro? Depending on that you will have to change the css file for the confluence page or the PDF export stylesheet or the code for the macro.

Possibly ... what are you trying to do. Maybe mockup a screenshot and include it.

The table of contents macro doesn't show links to pages. It shows links to headings within a page. So, I'm not sure what you mean by having it show the icon in front of important pages. Please expand on your explanation.
