After moving pages to a new space, Confluence returning a 404 on old links

This is in Confluence 3.4.9

I moved a lot of pages around from one space to a new space. I'm not renaming the pages. Their titles stay the same. If I click on a link like this in an email:

• http://our-url/display/oldspace/My+unique+page

I expect Confluence to display a "I can't find it, but it may have moved" with a link to this page:

• http://our-url/display/newspace/My+unique+page

Any ideas why it's suddenly returning 404 - page not found?

I found the answer and I'm not happy.

If you move a single page, it's fine. The redirect notice appears as expected.

But if you move a *parent* page with a huge tree of children, it 404s on all the children.

So now I've got angry users who have sent out review notices on many of those (child) pages in emails, and all the flipping links are broken with dead URLs.

I also recently found out that if you have a simple, relative link like this [My other page] between 2 pages in the old space when you move both pages to the new space, Confluence "helpfully" decides for you that you really meant the link was in the old space and rewrites the link so that it's now [oldspace:My other page]. Apparently this is how it's meant to work. Nice.

Closing this because the problem eventually went away on its own, probably after we upgraded to 3.5.x from 3.4

huasoon, I'm glad you suggested that. It didn't fix the problem (or maybe it did, I don't know), but it's uncovered something else in the test wiki that I needed to know about. Cheers :)

Have you already tried this? It indicates that the entire hierarchy of child and descendent pages of the moved page (including comments and attachments) is also maintained.
