Hei
We are planning to migrate from server to cloud. But run into a problem.
On our Confluence server instance, anonymous user can view spaces without having a lisens. They are logged into our office network. And Confluence are not published publicly.
The users are only emplyees. People from outside out network does not have access.
Is this possible in Cloud? Or do we have to pay lisens to all the emplyees that just want to view pages in Confluence. Can we give anonymous access to employees without giving anonymous access to people outside our company.
Hi Kristel,
that's the drawback of going to the cloud. Behind your firewall you can do that. But on a public server it's almost impossible. Perhaps you can use a pseudo anonymous account (confluence@mycompany.com) and share the password with everybody. But you should consider two ipmplications. First: Maybe this is a violation of the license agreement. Ask your lawyer. Second: What happens if someone leaves the company. You have to change the password and republish it on a regular basis.
So for security reasons I would stick to the on-premise version. If you have to work with external partners it's better to invest some money into your infrastructure and implement some VPN or reverse-proxy stuff so that people from outside can access your installation. Implementing it correctly is a pain in the a** and it's hard to find support (at least in Germany). But once you have done it right it works like a charm.
Kind regards
Florian
Thanks for your reply. I will recommend that we stay on the server version. I am now checking out the difference between the Server and Data Center.
