Appy Editing restrictions

I have just published a page which was restricted when I was creating but now that it's published I wish to remove the restrictions and publish it so that Everyone can view but only specific people can edit - Editing restricted. When I try to apply this I get this error

There was an error submitting the page restrictions. Please try again later.

Please help me solve this

@Lillian Shibata-Salley  Did you try the edit mode change?

Try going into edit mode for the page, changing the permissions, and re-publishing. Uncheck the "email watchers" if you want to avoid a message to everyone.

Thanks tried that but can't even get that far - as soon as I set the restriction and hit apply, I get the error message in edit mode as well...

Ok got it to work - I deleted some groups in the restrictions and it kept and added my new group and it worked... go figure... sigh

Hi Sharen,
Try going into edit mode for the page, changing the permissions then, and re-publishing. That worked for me just now.

I'm having this same issue with a live page.  I need to update the permissions on it and keep getting that error.

Work your way down the page tree for which you are directly responsible, i.e. be careful only to change your own tree.
Start from the highest level parent page that is within your remit, and change the Restrictions as you require them to be changed.
Then change in exactly the same way the child page(s) and grandchild page(s) and so on, until you reach the lowest level of your tree.

I've reproduced this issue in Confluence 7.1.0. I've managed to set restrictions and remove them.

I'm having the same issue - tried to edit and update but same error message. We sent this link to a lot of people - if I create new page the link will change - so not a good workarouind - why is this happening and is there a fix?

@Sharen Murnaghan If you need an immediate fix, create a new page with the proper permissions, then copy the content into that page. Delete original.

*Note: Notifications will go out to members again if they were tagged in your article.

After, you can then try to replicate the issue with a test page and troubleshoot.
