We are hosting our own instance of Confluence (ver 5.2). We use versions to track the history of certain pages. Our security officer wants to know if old versions of a page are ever automatically removed (they should not!).
No, it preserves them all.
Correct, even minor edits create a new entry in the database. Eventually, if your site is large enough and your pages are dynamic enough, you might want to start dumping version entries from the Confluence tables and back them up.
