Atlassian Intelligence - Define function - Which Pages does it access?

When I am using the Atlassian Intelligence feature for the definition function.  Does it only search pages I have access to?  How does it protect content based on user access?  

In addition to the helpful answer if you could point to some sorce content produced by Atlassian, that would be helpful.
