Blocking the flood of notifications

Many occasional users of Confluence have complained that they get too many notifications - whenever anyone does anything in the space they may have visited once. Of course one options is for them and go "stop watching" whatever is listed under their watchlist. The other option is Email setting. But there it is not at all clear how to stop notifications. It has an option to receive daily report - does that mean that if yo choose that option the "immediate emails" would stop? Is there any way to configure your setting such that you would receive a notification ONLY WHEN someone tags (mentions) you?

Hi Abhay,

if you don't want any information except if you watch a page or get notified when someone mentions you, uncheck all options in the email settings dialog.

Subscribe to daily updates doesn't remove the regular notifications, as far as I know.

Thanks Thomas.

While I love notifications, many users complained of too many of them. And, I am intrigued because these email settings are not intuitive. The opnly option that has the potential to flood your mail box is "Show changed content" and I do hope that unchecking it would solve the problem.

On the other hand, normally when one opts for one consolidated "daily update" it tacitly means that one is choosing it over "immediate updates". But it appears that's not the case.
