I stupidly opted out of backing up my files before updating for the sake of disk space and didn't spot that my license had expired a few months back when doing the upgrade due to being in a rush.
Now (having updated my license) I have missing columns from the database and Confluence wont start. Has anyone experienced the same and recovered from it?

This is the final "Caused by":

There is an KB article referring to your mentioned error

https://confluence.atlassian.com/confkb/unknown-column-error-when-upgrading-from-confluence-5-x-to-newer-versions-915476193.html

that points either to an outdated license or an incorrect collation setting.

Yeah, sadly I can't get back to a running version. Even tried a fresh install and restoring the automatic backups, but they come back with
Import failed. Check your server logs for more information. java.lang.RuntimeException: Could not get unique fields for table 'AO_187CCC_SIDEBAR_LINK'

argh :P
I'm going to revert back to the point just after failure (my earliest backup) and see what I can grab from the database fix. Cheers Kurt.
