Broken links on page move

I think I must be doing something daft here - maybe the community can let me know where I'm going wrong.

I have multiple Spaces within the same Confluence On Demand wiki. Space A contains multiple technical manuals. In order to avoid spamming users of Space A with multiple page updates, I am creating new manuals in Space B, and then moving the whole manual into Space A once they are complete.

Here's where I'm struggling: If I link from Space B to Space A, the link survives the migration, and is still intact when I move the new manual into Space A. But if I link internally within Space B, then when I move the manual into Space A, all of the internal links get broken, and they appear in brown, as though the page they are linking to does not exist.

Before I raise a support call, can anyone point out any real obvious mistakes I've made?

Hi Alex,

I think you should report this as a bug, because the confluence documentation clearly states that all links to pages should survive a move :

Are you linking using the full URL of the pages? If you link by searching the pages, it shouldn't be broken during the move as long as both pages exist in the same space after the move.

Sorry, I don't think that's it. Sounded plausible, because I've been linking to pages by selecting from the "recently viewed" tab; but when I tried linking to a few pages by searching, I got the same result (i.e clicking on the link in the new space takes me to the "create page" dialogue).

OK, here's a report on my troubleshooting this issue:

I create a new parent page in an existing space. I then create four child pages, all at the same level of the nvigation tree.

• Page 1 links to the parent.
• Page 2 links to another child page.
• Page 3 links to the space that the parent page is being moved to.
• Page 4 links to another unrelated space.

I create the links using a mix of searching for them, or else browsing recently viewed pages. (In other words, I use one of the first two options on the Confluence link editor). I then move my parent page, with its four children, to a new space.

Result:

• Page 1 link broken (links to a new "create page" dialogue in its old location)
• Page 2 link broken (links to a new "create page" dialogue in its old location)
• Page 3 links correctly
• Page 4 links correctly.

Surely all links should survive the migration, or am I doing something really obviously wrong?

I then edited Pages 1 and 2 in their new location. I corrected the links, this time using only the search dialogue, and then moved them back to their original location. Result:

• Page 1 link is still broken (links to a new "create page" dialogue in the space that it's just been moved from)
• Page 2 links correctly
• Page 3 links correctly
• Page 4 links correctly

Maybe I should just log a call with Support. I'm using On Demand.
