I'm trying to create a database that captures information from all of the content we create in our documentation software, LMS, video management software and Google Drive. I would also be plugging in information from our SSO and or HR software and Jira.
I was hoping to do this with Confluence Databases because of the UI/UX, amongst other reasons. Our content changes very regularly so I need the database to be able to integrate with our content creation softwares somehow so it can automatically pull and update the information regularly. Manually doing this is not realistic.
Is this possible using web-hooks or some other method? I have not seen anyone using Confluence Databases in such a comprehensive way yet so I have had no luck finding help with setting this up.
Hi @Monique Baird! 🤗
Right now, Databases don’t support native integrations or webhooks for pulling data automatically from external sources like an LMS, video tools, or HR systems.
But there are some possible workarounds, depending on your setup:
You can use the Confluence REST API or external automation tools (like Zapier, Make, or custom scripts) to push updates into Confluence. This would typically target pages or content blocks, not the database directly, but could be combined with smart macros or placeholders.
Also, if you're just getting started with Databases, my team at K15t has created several hands-on tutorials and guides on our YouTube Channel that walk through real examples, tips, and best practices about Databases.
They might help spark ideas on how to structure your content.
Have fun!
Thank you for the insightful answer! I will check out the channel to see if it helps as you suggested.

Hi @Monique Baird ,
I'm not sure if you'll be able to get the desired result based on the current state of Databases. There's Database REST API which you might want to explore, but it's really missing some key features.
There's an open feature suggestion related to additional manipulation of Databases via REST API: CONFCLOUD-77328: Allow Manipulation of Confluence Databases using the REST API, so I suggest looking at that. Drop a vote and a comment related to your requirement. Also, you might want to check comments from others, as maybe someone has stumbled upon a solution/workaround you could use.
I haven't played that much with syncing Confluence DBs with other tools so maybe someone else here has some additional insights on the topic.
Cheers,
Tobi
