Can I configure Confluence User mentions to just use first names?

We're a small team and @ mentions use first and last names which looks "strange" in comments, any way I can configure them to just use first names?

Hi Robert,

You can just mention the person you want first, and then (use backspace to) remove the lastname. The mention will still work.
