Can I create plugins in Confluence? How?

I want to create a summary page which should be populated automatically based on the changes performed in other pages. Can I do this? How?

Have you looked into the page properties and page properties report macros? They are specifically for rolling up data from pages onto a summary page.

Apart from the answers provided, one of the following should be of help to you in re-using content across pages in Confluence:

• To create or write plugins in Confluence, refer to this article.
• If you meant the content of page 1, page 2 being populated in page 3, where page 3 is updated every time page 1 or 2 is edited, you can use Page Include Macro.
• If you meant only a part of page1 or 2 being populated in page 3, you can use Excerpt Include Macro. 
• If you meant you want to include an external page, you can use HTML Include Macro, or there a bunch of other macros on Marketplace that can get the job done for you.
• If you meant pointing to certain sections or pages themselves, you can use links or anchors. (I don't think you meant this but, wanted you to point to it just in case. :) )

Have you considered using the Activity Stream macro? Unless you need complicated metrics, it does the job nicely provided your summary page is also in Confluence.

You have not provided enough information required to properly answer this question. But here is some information that might help (based on provided information).

First and foremost, yes, you can create plugins in Confluence (for both Server and Cloud version)

Secondly, to automatically update content of certain page based on changes in other page, this can be done using multiple ways,

• Snippet Macro
• Custom plugin
• Rest API's

I can be more precise if you can provide little bit more information about your hosting type and use case.
