Confluence does not have a workflow engine in it, and hence there's no status in it.
I think you might want to add the Comala Workflows App to get workflows.
So if we need to change status, we need to go in Edit mode to do so manually?

No, Comala's workflow functions are outside the "edit" function.

Hi,
If you use Confluence Server you can also try the Handy Status macro (the Handy Macros app). You can create as much custom status sets as you need and change them with the help of the dropdown menu in the page view mode.

Vonnie,
For a user macro solution using the Confluence Status menu, see my article: Getting Started with User Macros - Writing a Wrapper Macro. May not be exactly what you want, but easier than manually editing macros.

Hi,
If you are looking only for the status (no workflow) our Easy Dropdown Menu (EDM) could be a solution. You can have as many dropdowns per page as you like.
You find the Easy Dropdown Menu on the Marketplace (Server and Cloud).
And if you are looking for an easy workflow, maybe the Easy Document Signer (EDS) fits your requirement. It also can be found on the Marketplace.
Regards,
Stephan (CEO of EPS Software Engineering AG, the vendor of the EDM and EDS)
