My company purchased another company, elements in the parent company want to bring the purchased companies Confluence server instance data into our Confluence cloud instance.
I can find articles about cloud to cloud or even migrating from server to cloud but this wipes out all data on the confluence and replaces it with the imported data, I don't need that, I need to maintain our data in our confluence cloud, and basically bring in the data from their confluence server.... happily living together all in the same instance without any trouble (lol)
I did find this but its talking about merging 2 server instances https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Confluence-questions/Merging-two-confluence-instances/qaq-p/180999
But it sounds like it might work for what I need, I just dont know what my limitations would be, In any event im looking for some guidance on this from people who know and understand this alot better than myself :)
Thanks,
- Mike
Hi Mike,
You would have to manually export and import each space from your server instance into the Cloud instance you want to merge with: (see https://confluence.atlassian.com/confcloud/export-content-to-word-pdf-html-and-xml-724764824.html - you'll want to export to HTML - and https://confluence.atlassian.com/confcloud/import-a-confluence-space-724765531.html)
Hope that helps!
Cheers
Des
Thank you for the response Des. What would happen if we exported a space from the server instance and tried importing it into a new space on our cloud as everything is right now, do you know off the top of your head?

@Michael Owen yes, export on server and import on cloud should work.
Note that (regardless of whether you go server > cloud or cloud > cloud) there's a (small?) chance that you will run into some space key collisions, which you would need to resolve manually.

Also look out for plugins (add-ons) that are used in the server instance but maybe not available in cloud.

Thank you for the responses. We'll give this a shot and see how it turns out :D

So far so good, she did the export and import, had to map a few thing and create some new users but doing it this way appears to have worked out for us. Thank you for the information :).
