Can I upgrade directly from Confluence 5.0 to 5.6.3?

Can I upgrade directly from Confluence 5.0 to 5.6.3 or do I have to do the upgrade in steps?

We are using Confluence with SQL Server 2008.

I got this error message when trying to upgrade:

Confluence will not start up because the build number in the home directory [4104] doesn't match the build number in the database [3398].

Any tips?
