Can a user be a Confluence Administrator ONLY and not an across the board site-admin?

The confluence-administrators group is not a group accessible to Cloud customers, it's a group designed to Atlassian Cloud Support, as it configures a System Administrator level of permission over the application.

If you want to restrict access to JIRA, like Paula mentioned, then you would have to configure the Global Permissions on Confluence so a different group (maybe a new one), aside administrators also have Confluence Administrator permission granted.

This is the correct answer (1) Create a new group. (2) Inside the Confluence Global Permissions screens give that new group admin permissions. (3) Add users to the new group as you please that you want to be Confluence only Administrators.

Well, if you are on Confluence Cloud technically you are not a full admin. There are certain things that only Atlassian can do. Not totally sure what you mean by Confluence Administrator vs Site Admin. But have you looked into the difference between Space Administrator and Confluence Administrator. A Confluence Administrator can do everything a Space Administrator can do and more. A space administrator can only do admin function related specifically to that space. So, you could create a group called Space Administrators and add that group to the Space Administrator role for every space. Then just put people into the group. Is that what you are asking?

Hi Matt,

If you mean you don't want the user to be an administrator on jira, you can add him to confluence-administrators group and remove from administrator and site-admin.

There is no "confluence-administrators" group. And if I add a new group, there is no way to set permissions for it that I can tell that would be specific to just Confluence-level administration. Thoughts?
