I'm an admin and I'm trying to enable the Confluence Email Gateway in our Confluences so our team can email content into Confluence. I have navigated to the Manage apps page to ensure the system app is enabled, but I don't see the system app, and can't find it anywhere else. What am I missing?!

Hi @leslie !
Here’s a quick guide to help you enable the Confluence Email Gateway feature:

Step-by-step to enable Email Gateway in Confluence:

  1. Check your Confluence plan
The Email Gateway is only available on Confluence Cloud Premium and Enterprise plans. If you're on a Free or Standard plan, this feature won’t be available.

  2. Verify you're a site admin
You need to be a site administrator, not just a space admin, to access the necessary settings.

  3. Access the Email settings
Go to: ⚙️ Settings (top right) → System → scroll down to Email → click on Email channels.

  4. Set up an email address
If available, you can generate a unique email address for each space. This allows users to send content directly into Confluence.

  5. If you can’t find “Email channels”
    • Make sure your site is on the Premium plan.
    • If it is, try accessing this page directly:
      https://<yoursite>.atlassian.net/wiki/admin/email-channels
Replace <yoursite> with your actual Confluence site name.

  6. Still not showing up?
    Reach out to Atlassian Support
It’s possible that the feature isn’t fully rolled out yet in your instance.

Hope this helps! Let me know if you'd like help checking your plan or navigating settings.

Thanks, Mia. We are on the free plan for the moment, so that's why I'm not seeing them.

@leslie welcome to the Atlassian community

That feature is available in Confluence Data Center. https://confluence.atlassian.com/conf83/create-content-with-email-1235855436.html

You referenced that you are on Confluence cloud which requires a third party app https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1223249/mailto-wiki-email-for-confluence to do something like that as that feature is not available in cloud.

Hello @leslie

Welcome to the Atlassian community.

Can you share a link to the document you are referencing for instructions? I suspect you are looking at documentation that is applicable only to Confluence Data Center, while according to the tags on you post you are using Confluence Cloud.

i.e. https://confluence.atlassian.com/conf83/create-content-with-email-1235855436.html

That functionality is not available natively for Confluence Cloud. There is a change request about it. You can add your vote and comments to it.

According the the Google search AI you can use third party apps to add the functionality to Confluence Cloud. One of the apps I found is this one, which I have never actually used:
