Can we back up our cloud confluence data locally or to a hosted confluence server for back up purposes?

This is a "just in case" the worst happens question. If Atlassian/conflunence stops, for what ever reason (stops trading, terrorist attack etc), how would we ensure that we have access to our confluence data.

Yes, you can backup your Confluence data. Please see Backing up and exporting data for more details on how to do that. Also, please keep in mind that we also perform daily backups of your instance for security purposes. Please see About Your Data - How often is data backed up for more details on this.
