Cannot remove page restrictions and no page restrictions are listed

Alex Beech October 2, 2018

On confluence page we cannot edit or remove the 'Everyone has no access' when we then want to add 'A group has access to view' this does not give the correct permissions, please see screenshotCapture.PNG

Hi @Alex Beech,

While applying page restrictions, if you are going to restrict view and edit on pages below are the points you need to remember.

1) When you apply a view and edit restriction, Confluence will automatically add everyone to the list with has no access. You can't remove everyone from this list.

  • Here Everyone means all the people who can view the page by default.
  • Restrictions don't override a person's space permission.   For example, if you say a person 'can view' in the restrictions dialog and they don't have 'view' permissions for the space, they won't be able to see the page.

2) When you apply a restriction, Confluence will automatically add you to the list. You can't remove yourself from this list.

3) For your case be specific to choose the group or person to whom you want to give access. Then those people only can view and edit that particular page. For more details see screenshot below.

Hope this helps for you.

Thanks,
Ram.
