Chart macro displays "data not available"

Though I have followed the guidance to adding this macro (url below), I have not been able to get my data to display.  Most of the answers to this question direct to the page below and it has not been helpful.  Could someone provide some "confluence for dummy" level guidance here?

Hi @Kristine McKinney ,

The standard Chart macro is not compatible with dynamic tables, it doesn't show the result (or sometimes the preview is beautiful but you don't get your graph when the page is published). What kind of tables (or maybe another Confluence macro) do you wrap into the Chart body?

You can use the Chart from Table macro (Table Filter and Charts app) instead, this macro is fully compatible with dynamic tables (Jira Issues macro, Page Properties Report macro, etc.).

What are you doing differently to the "using the chart macro" instructions on that page?
