Cloned confluence server attempted to changes serverid will not start

jozwikjp July 11, 2018

Hello,

I cloned a confluence server and changed the server id using a test evaluation install.

I am unable to get the instance to start because of the invalid license issue. Is there a method to install the license from the command line? or another way to activate a temporarily so I can add the new licenses in.

Hi Joseph,

Applying an evaluation license should not change the server ID. Our licenses can be applied to instances with different server IDs without impacting functionality. Was the server ID changed directly in the database?

Please let me know what error message you are seeing when you try to start up the cloned instance. I look forward to helping to get the instance running.

Thanks,

Ann

Yes the server ID was changed directly in the database. I did not want the old server to have the same id as the new server.   I think I just needed to reboot, seems awesome now ..

THanks

Hi @jozwikjp

from my experience, when cloning a server you do not need to change its server ID.

If the server is going to be used as a test server, after cloning and getting Confluence up, simply get a test licence from your Atlassian account and paste it in Confluence Licence administration page.

Let me know if this helps,
