Can you explain the steps or configuration required to ensure that Confluence Cloud is securely positioned behind our company firewall and network, so that all our employees are required to access it via our company VPN?

Hi @amir.yusof

Welcome to the community!

Please be aware that the nature of a cloud service is that it is not within your company's network, but outside "somewhere in the web".

That means you cannot restrict access to users within your network since the cloud is not in your network easily.

However, you can restrict access to Confluence to users with some public IP addresses, see Specify IP addresses for product access | Atlassian Support. Please be aware that this advanced security feature is only available in the premium and enterprise plans.

What you need to do is (probably)

  • make sure you are on a plan that has this feature
  • restrict your confluence instance to the public IP(s) your company network uses to access the internet
  • make sure users that are in your VPN are using the VPN to access the confluence instance and do not "bypass" the VPN for internet access (at least not for your confluence)

I suggest contacting your company's network department / admin and discuss this with them.

Regards,

Harald
