Hi,
I'm going to switch our Confluence to another DB (Both Oracle 11g). Can I just modify confluence.cfg.xml file in Confluence home dir with new DB connection and restart Confluence and then import xml backup file? Does Confluence require DB with UTF-8 encoding configured? We currently using V4.0 and does update version required UTF-8 encoding?
My 4.3.2 Confluence instance still use an ASCII Oracle database since Confluence 2.6
I tried a DB migration to a new UT-8 encoding database with no luck.
Any hint for ASCII -> UTF8 migration for Confluence?
Best
Davide
Hi David,
Confluence does require UTF-8 encoding, although you should follow all the instructions in our database configuration documents to ensure that you don't have problems further down the road. You can read the documentation for configuring Oracle databases here: https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/DOC/Database+Setup+for+Oracle
However, you shouldn't have any problmes just changing the address in the confluence.cfg.xml file and pointing Confluence at a new database, although you might find it's better to setup the new database first and then point Confluence at it rather than the other way around.
All the best,
John
