Confluence Mobile, IOS: Images 'failed to load' with 'new page viewing experience' enabled

I've been creating study docs for weeks in Confluence Cloud but yesterday when I went to read them on the IOS based mobile app, a good number of the images on pages would not load.   "Failed to load" and an ineffective "Retry" button appeared on a grey box where the images should have been.

They appear find on the web browser view, so they're present in the document.

Unchecking "new page viewing experience" in the app restored the images.

So, anyone else having this problem?

Does anyone at Confluence want to know more about it or is this a known issue?
