Confluence OnDemand HipChat Integration with private room

Those new to the Atlassian Community have posted less than three times. Give them a warm welcome!

We have HipChat integrated with Confluence OnDemand, but the HipChat Integration settings in Confluence only let us select the main, public HipChat room.  Even if we start to type the name of a private room Confluence still does not find it.  We've tried removing the HipChat integration in Confluence and re-connecting it, but that doesn't seem to help.
