We get the following error when trying to edit an Excel spreadsheet or Word Document. We can't connect to
http://<our URL>/plugins/servlet/confluence/editinword/######/attachments/<filename>. Please make sure you're using the correct web address.
Conflunece 5.1.3
Office Connector Plug-in 3.0.3
Thank you Andrew! We had this working before we ran some upgrades on our server. MS Word opens, and prompts with the error message. I too saw the Microsoft post with the suggestion to change the registry and did not have any luck. Do you think adding an SSL certificate to our configuration could possibly resolve the issue?
Thank you for your help!!
Darren
I was finally told to contact the Microsoft support as it was not resolved. The edit was working before the upgrade to 5.3, and then it suddenly stopped working. Now it is not working even on 5.6.

Hi Darren,
Is your BaseURL set to the same URL you are using to connect to Confleunce with? If not, then this could explain the situation

Thanks Andrew. I checked the base URL setting and it is set to the URL that we are using to get to confluence.
When we try to go to the URL directly:
http://<ourURL>/plugins/servlet/confluence/editinword/######/attachments/<filename>
We are getting a Page Not Found error.
Could this be a Microsoft / Windows security issue? We are using Microsoft Office 2013 and running on Windows 7 and Windows 8 machines.
Thank you for your assistance!

Hi Darren,
Hm, it could be a matter of incompatiblity or security. Accoring to the 'edit in office' documentation word 2013 is not supported.
Editing an Office Document from Confluence
However, I would expect a different error then 'could not find'. When we click 'edit in word' on a document in Confluence what is the beahvior exactly? Does word open? or do we get this error immeditly and from the browser itself?
One other thing, I do know that newer version of windows and word will not allow webdav connections unless SSL is enabled for Confluence. Do we have SSL for Confluence? If not, there is a regirstry entry we can change to force windwos to accept non SSL webdav traffic.
Cheers,
Andrew
