I have a bunch of MS Word documents that I have created that, when imported to confluence, the formatting becomes cluttered and un readable. Moreover, when exported to word the formatting is again cluttered... What is the best way to address this?
Hi Alexander,
Do your documents use characters that are the same as Confluence wiki markup? Examples of that would be square brackets or hashes.
The reason I ask is that Confluence will automatically convert those characters into their wiki markup value when you import your document. It’s possible this is what we’re seeing here. In this case, you’d want to edit the file before importing to change the characters to non markup characters.
That said, I’m not sure exactly what you’re seeing - could you provide an example of what you mean by “formatting becomes cluttered and un readable”? Are you seeing extra bullet points? A bit more detail on what the end result is would help.
Best,
Rachel
