Hi There,
For the Confluence and MS Teams integration to work,..do you need to setup the Microsoft identity provider with Atlassian?
I saw on a demo you sign-in to the Confluence app in teams to your Atlassian account does that need to be the same account/password you have in MS Entra in order for that to work?
I ask because we are deploying a very segregated Confluence Cloud site that is NOT tied to our O365 tenant for security reasons and users have different passwords with MFA authentication enforced. So I'm just wondering for the MS Teams integration will that still work?
Which lead me to the next question if it will still work, where does the data reside in teams being displayed from the confluence pages? in Confluence only or also in Teams?
I'm concerned about possible confidential data being stored in teams, which we want to avoid.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
thanks Michael.
Hi @Michael Doherty ,
do you need to setup the Microsoft identity provider with Atlassian?
- No, this is not the IDP login that it requires, it is the "App" authentication. When you try to link MS Teams with Confluence, an Enterprise application is automatically created in Azure/Entra, the login would then ask you to authenticate Confluence to communicate with the Ent. application.

- This question is best answered by the Atlassian support team : https://support.atlassian.com/confluence-cloud/docs/use-microsoft-teams-and-confluence-together/#Need-support
Although from what I'm aware the data that you see in Teams is essentially pulled via some APIs, but I'm not 100% sure of this.
