Hi Everyone,

Newbie here and just wanted to get some advice here. I would just like to ask which setup is better Confluence Cloud or Hosted on our own Server for Confluence that will need to cater to more than 70 users.

Thank you so much for anyone that will give their input on this.

Best Regards,
Dom Ruz

Hi @Dom Ruz ,

Welcome to the Community!

Go for Confluence Data Center(On-Prem) version if you have:

  1. Stringent data hosting requirements.
  2. Resources for maintaining the infrastructure as well as application(Installation/upgrades etc.)

Else, go with the cloud version where you can just create your Confluence instance in 5 mins and do not need to worry about the infrastructure.

Please utilize this article for cloud vs DC comparison.

Thanks,
Aditya

I would add that managing Cloud will require fewer in-house resources and less overall support in-house, as you will not need to perform any version upgrades.

Our org must go to Data Center for now due to intricacies within our client contracts around data storage, so do not forget to check with your contract admin and /or ERMO- Risk Management - Info Security department if you have external clients for whom you store or manage data in Confluence.
