Hi there, we recently changed which plugin we were using to store emails within Confluence - we used to use Send-to-Page, which created blog posts, but this cluttered up users' notifications.
We've changed to Mail Archives, which is great.
HOWEVER when an email comes in with attachments, the email itself is created correctly in Email Archives, and the attachments are shown against the email BUT Confluence treats it as though the attachments have been added later, by a DIFFERENT user, and people who are watching Confluence get notification emails that say @"xxx has attached a file to a page" - when xxx had nothing at all to do with the email thread.
Any suggestions as to why this may be and how we can stop it happening?
Hello Natalie, welcome to our Community!
Well, what happens is that when someone manually syncs the email within a Space, the attachment will be wired to that username. When the sync happens as scheduled, without user interaction, the attachment will be under anonymous.
Ideally, only the Space Administrator or Confluence System Administrator should have the permissions to go into Integrations and then manually sync the mailbox.
The username assign happens because it is a specific user triggering the action rather than a scheduled job doing it.
If your emails are not being automatically fetched, you may need to check your settings. Leaving the scheduled job to run and sync emails, should get rid of the usernames under attachments.

Hi @Diego, thanks for getting back to me.
However, I can confirm that this is NOT due to users manually triggering a sync job. I know this because:
There is definitely a bug here that is not to do with manual intervention by users.
I have logged a support ticket as well now, but if you have any additional suggestions of possible reasons then I'd love to hear them :)
Thanks again for your attention!

Hi Natalie! Thanks for updating us at the community!
If you and our support team find the root and solution to this, let us know. This knowledge could help other customers as well!
I tried to reproduce your behaviour locally and was able to only when a user directly issued the sync command to fetch new email. When this happens, the attachment shows under the username that triggered the action.
