I want to locate e.g.a director or directors.
I have users with title 'creative director', 'technical director', etc.
But search on 'director' does not find them. Including their title in the 'about' section of the profile and the profiles are found.
This is on Confluence 4.3.6 (current)
Hi Nic,
At the present moment such feature is not available on Confluence yet.
However, based ont his case I've raised this feature request: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONF-28028
I'd strongly suggest you to vote and comment on it to raise its awareness and also add yourself as a watcher for following further updates.
Cheers!
I would like to request that documentation is updated to clarify what fields are and are not searched. In particular this page https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/CONF43/Confluence+Search+Fields#ConfluenceSearchFields-PersonalInformation specifically includes a field 'title' which it says can be searched on. The fact that I had to spend a long time trying to find out what I was doing wrong was more frustrating than discovering it is not possible.
[ If this table (of fields in 'personal information') means 'fields in personal profiles which you can search', then it should have added to it a column giving the user visible names of the fields. If it means something else then it should explain what it means and also state that it is not a list of such fields.
As to why search is looking at the 'about' field but not 'job title' - .....? I would call it a bug (is there a requirement document which would clarify this point :-) ). ]
rgds - will you raise a defect against the documentation (I would, if I knew how and also that it would be accepted...)

In addition to that page, you should look at this one, which has more detail about the search types/values:

thanks Matthew - that reference is completely clear. If the documentation removed the table I mentioned earlier and pointed here there would have been no issue.
