Confluence search results logic about page restrictions

Hi Community,

As a system administrator, I know that even if access restrictions are set on the page, the system administrator can still access the page directly, but if I directly search for the keywords of the restricted page, I can’t find the page or attachment. Is that true?

Hi @Ollie Guan

That's correct.

If you are part of the confluence-administrators group, you will be able to access any Page, no matter Space Permissions and Page Restrictions, as long as you have the URL for that page.

However, the search feature respects the permissions and restrictions, meaning the same page will not appear in the search results if you don't have regular permissions to view it.

I hope that helps.

Kind regards

Thiago

Hi @Ollie Guan

maybe this solution is helpfull for you: iFinder Confluence Search

Herewith, administrators and all Confluence users can found all content they are looking for - based on their user rights. More information you will find also here: Community article or contact me.

Kind regards

Robby
