Designating "permitted sender" for Confluence email

Email sent from our confluence instances uses the "from address" of noreply@...org. A number of recipients' email servers aren't accepting mail from us because they "require that all mail servers must have a PTR record with a valid Reverse DNS entry. Currently your mail server does not fill that requirement." I have done a reverse DNS lookup on our domain name and it points properly to our mail server, so that is all right. The problem is that the "domain of transitioning noreply@....org does not designate [the domain name xx.xx.xxxx.xx as permitted sender." Is there some setting within Confluence that is supposed to correlate the "from address" to the sending server? Is this controlled from the Administration setup that I have access to or must the host of the Confluence server manage this for me? Thanks much for assistance.

I have solved the problem with help from Henry Whincup of Adaptavist Support and support from Network Solutions. It was not a Confluence issue, but I appreciate all assistance.

The solution involved updating the SPF TXT record along the lines explained on https://support.google.com/a/bin/topic.py?hl=en&topic=1409901 and
https://support.google.com/a/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=182473&topic=1409901&ctx=topic. In other words, I needed to add the url of the Adaptavist server that supports our wiki and sends out the email to the SPF TXT record. After I did that and the information propagated through the web, the status in the email header changed from softfail to pass.

Hello Tom,

I think that your question boils down to "How do I set the from address for email sent within Confluence." Is this correct?

You should be able to configure this from your Confluence Admin > Mail servers. You should see a field there where you can configure what address mail is sent from. Below you will find more verbose documents exactly what can be set on these pages.

Yes, this makes sense and it is exactly what I reviewed before I wrote my question. The "From address" has been set up by this means for a long time. I didn't realize I had a "Received-SPF: softfail" error until today. So it strikes me that something is set up wrong. Is there a method of providing you more details in a private medium?
