Hi,
I'm trying to understand how to disable space tools shortcut on the sidebar for a space that has an anonymous access. I'm a new confluence user and have a lot to learn, so there is probably something I don't see. So far I've found the way to update the global layout, but is there a better way to do that?
Thanks,
Sam
Hi,
I can confirm that if anonymous access is enabled, the anonymous user will be granted permissions that gives access to functions that are available under Space Tools.
To minimize the things that can be done, you can revoke every space permission for that particular space for anonymous users but the 'View' permission, then they will not access any more than they supposed to be. However if you have anonymous access enabled, everyone will see space tools, only won't be able to perform too many actions through them.
I found no option to hide space tools. Changing the theme may do it, however the functions will still be accessible through the menu.
Kind regards,
Peter
Hi Peter,
Do you think that this can be addressed in the future versions of the software? Frankly speaking I don't see any reason for an anonymous user to see this option, if anything it's more confusing than helpful. For now I guess I will need to update the global space layout and hide this item for anonymous users.
Thanks,
Sam

Hi,
Space tools are available for those users only that have access to functions under that menu. Do your anonymous users also see them or anyone who should not have to? Check out the Space Permissions for users/groups/public.
Kind regards,
Peter

Peter,
Thanks for you answer. What permissions do I need to disable to restrict access to the functions as you've described? Right now the space has view only permissions for the anonymous users and the space tools are still visible to everyone. I'm using the latest version of Confluence.
Thanks,
Sam
