Disabling LDAP users in Jira/Confluence

Dennis Roche October 18, 2016

I have JIRA and Confluence integrated with our Microsoft Active Directory and want to know how I manage users that are disabled in Active Directory. I have an AD Group that is what access to both JIRA and Confluence are based on. I would like that if a user is removed from that group they are marked as disabled. This does not seem to be the case with my configuration. User's that are disabled In AD are still active in JIRA/Confluence. Is there a configuration I am missing? I have been scanning Atlassian Answers and have yet to find a solution for this. I do NOT want to manually disable users within JIRA/Confluence.

Thanks!

Below is my configuration. I still have "Confluence Internal Directory" enabled because I was worried if i didnt it would disable the local "admin"

I have checked the logs and performed a sync with no errors at all. When users are disabled in AD, we move them to an OU and remove them from all the groups except "Domain Users."

Dennis,

You may need to check the configuration of your Active directory in JIRA.

Ideally 'Microsoft Active Directory (Read Only, with Local Groups)' should do it , also you may need to check sync errors and also how AD user disabling is managed. If they are just moving the users into separate group, JIRA could not be able to read as disabled users
