Documentation Theme - changing page tree to buttons

JEB August 15, 2013

We are currently using easy reader (v4.3.6) and this is not available when we upgrade to v5+.

The documentation theme gives the best range of options, but is it possible to replace the "page tree" text with button? At present, our side menu is manually created using images and we want to get away from that.

We are unable to use any theme builders or plug ins so would need the wiki markup if this is available for us to do.

I think you might mean making it look more like a menu, with button-like links. As Sean King says, all this need is custom CSS. The link below describes in detail how the custom CSS would look:

I'm working on replicating just the pagetree part of it. I've wrapped the pagetree in a div element, with a custom class. Then, I've defined the custom CSS for the class. You can specify borders and background gradients, which will make the individual links look like buttons.

You can add css to the space stylesheet to make the text links look like buttons. For example you can remove the list-style-type, add a border, padding, margin, and maybe a background color or gradient.

I'm not sure I follow what you're trying to do. The page tree in the doc theme shows page names (as links), with a clickable + or - to expand/collapse child pages. Do you want to get rid of all of this, or replace the page names (the only text in the page tree)? If it's the latter then what do you expect a button to look like? Still with the page name as the button text? If you can describe what you want to achieve with a little more detail, help may be forthcoming.
