Hello,
Very new to confluence. Using it to simply create our company documentation. When I try and make a headline bold, it bolds 4 lines below it.
What am I doing wrong? I am cutting and pasting from word, to notepad, then to confluence.
Any help would be great - thank you!
My guess is that there isn't a real line break between each line. (If you have the storage format editor available, you can look at the code and see.)
To fix, use backspace to remove everything between the heading and the next line, hit return to put a break in, then try applying the heading style.
Thank you both. Exactly what I needed!

Hi Jude,
I believe this is a simple issue of placing the cursor to the right of the header line and clicking enter. You need a 'carriage return' to break the formatting applied to the top line. Apparently the pasted text lost the carriage return.
If someone does want to extend the header formatting to a second line, they can click Shift-Enter to place the text on a subsequent line but retain the formatting of the top line.
Please advise if that works for you.
Cheers,
Tom

Good job for you going from Word to Notepad and then to Confluence. Too many people skip the Notepad step ... bugs me to no end. So much cruft is put in behind the scenes.
