I just started a position with this company and I am not all that familiar with Confluence and Jira. One of our testers is using Confluence and Jira together and could successfully use Jira issues until recently. When he attempts to use jira issues he gets the message in the title that I will post below:

Error formatting macro: jiraissues: java.lang.RuntimeException: Service Unavailable

Are there any common issues that would cause this issue?

Judging from the stack trace, can you confirm your JIRA instance is up and running?

I can log into Jira and access content and the admin panel so I would assume it is running. Is there some specific service that I should check?
