Error when importing a site xml file

So basically our server died a while back and im trying to resurrect our old confluence site to the cloud i have the back up xml file but when i try to upload it i get the error "Exception occurred during import: Error importing site"

Any help you could provide would be much appreciated.

@dylan test You can follow the steps mentioned by @Maren on another forum to move your Confluence site from server to Cloud https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Confluence-questions/Confluence-Migration-Server-to-Cloud/qaq-p/377743

Dylan,

  The easiest way to accomplish this would be to:

  1. Setup Confluence Server again (This can be done using the free trial of the version you had installed before)
  2. Restore Confluence from backup to server.
  3. Use the cloud migration tool and directions here to migrate to cloud. https://confluence.atlassian.com/doc/migrate-from-confluence-server-to-cloud-829665269.html

Cloud and Server are different versions so you will not be able to restore your server backup to cloud.
