Facing issues with Confluence notifications

sufiyan khan June 28, 2018

Confluence notifications are not working properly. We have checked sending test emails that works, but when I tag someone or the user add himself as a watcher he do not receive any email notifications, this is happening with multiple users. Whereas when I subscribed to my own changes I received the email.

I have checked the configurations:

SMTP configuration, User subscription, Enabled the below packages in debug mode

  1. com.atlassian.confluence.mail
  2. com.atlassian.confluence.jmx

Nothing in the logs.

Need help to fix this issue

Hi Sufiyan,

If the issue is only occurring for a few users and not all users, it indicates to me that there might be an issue with their user permissions or the emails are being sent to a spam folder. Before proceeding, it might be best to confirm the following:

  • The affected users have the proper Space Permissions to the content where you’re mentioning them and/or if there are page restrictions on that content, that the users have access to that.
  • Have the users check their spam box or any filters in their inbox that might be filtering out the messages.

Once you’ve confirmed the above, you might also want to check out this other cause, where the notification system plugin has been disabled:

Thanks for your response Rachel. There are no page restrictions & permission issues. I will do the workaround given in the documentation shared by you.
