Find pages where a certain handy status macro is used (and replace)

Peter Schupp July 16, 2020

Hi Community! We meanwhile have several user defined "handy status" macros in use.
One is doing red/yellow/green the other Prio1/Prio2/Prio3 another one go/stop/attention, ... and so on. However, more than one have the same meaning. So we'd like to reduce them to a minimum number.

How can we find certain pages that use a certain kiund of handy status?
Is there a way to replace a used handy status by another one (semi-automatically)?

Hi @Peter Schupp while this doesn't really answer what you need, you might find some help from the "Macro Usage" report that Confluence admins have. That will at least show you the level of use and which pages have which macros. I don't know of a way to auto-replace them though.

Hi @Peter Schupp ,

To find all the particular statuses, type the following in the search box:

macroName:status-handy AND status:"Name of status"

To replace them semi-automatically, you can try to use status IDs (you can find them in the markup).

Hi @Natalie Paramonova _Stiltsoft_ , didn't know that! Thanks for the hint!
Is there a list of patterns or can I somehow logically derive the search keys (like "macroName, status, ...) to be used for a search?

Hi Peter,

After identifying the pages, you may be able to use a WebDAV client to handle the replacement portion of your ask.

Cheers!

Interesting approach, thank you!
I can see the WebDAV configuration in my confluence, however, I wonder if it needs additional configuration on the systens side (not cobfluence, but the server), as I tried several clients but never got connected ...

Anyway, like the idea and will try further.

THX, that's already a good first step!

... of course hints on search/replace over all pages and especially "code"/makros are still welcome! :)
