I'm using a Table of Contents macro on each Confluence page, but the heading text displays by default with the font applied to the headings (for example, I have Heading 4s with bold and blue text). How do I get it to show the content entries like they do in the right side bar in Confluence Online Help---plain "paragraph" text with the theme's link color?
Theoretically, there is a workaround. You can specify the class name of the DIV that surrounds the TOC. This is the last option on the TOC insert macro page. You then use that DIV to reference and change the TOC styles... in either a stylesheet or with jQuery. This should let you override the default styles. I wish I had the time, I'd take a stab at it...
Thank you Matthew and Guilherme for your answers. I understand about the time factor, for now the style may have to be the way they are.

Hello Elizabeth,
It appears to be a behavior related to this bug in the macro. Currently there isn't a workaround, though you can post your concerns to the bug report ticket.
Hope it helps.
