Force users to always create a new page from a template

Hello,

Is it possible to force Confluence functionality to always use a specific template when users create a new page?

I can't find any info on this in Answers of the documentation, so I suspect it isn't possible without a 3rd party plugin.

Not what I was originally looking for either, but it does solve a different user request for me, so not all lost.

So, the macro above basically puts a button on your page that you can click to create a subpage from a template. It doesn t go in the Create popup menu. It s more designed for, say, a user that requires a template-driven Weekly Meeting Notes page, one per week. You would add the macro (button) to the parent Meeting Notes Home Page saying "Click the button to create a page from the template." This will create a child page from a template, with formatted title and so on. It s nice for some instances, but possibly not what Mick wants.

well, then there's no easy solution to your request, I'm afraid. This can most likely be achieved through a custom plugin.

I m on 5.1. What I really want to to replace the Blank Page template with one I ve created. Failing that, I would like for my new template to appear higher up the options list when a user clicks on Create.

which version of Confluence are you using?

If you put a webserver like Apache in front of Confluence, it could be possible to rewrite/redirect the page creation url to one that includes the template you would like to see on every new page.

yes, that would be helpful to know wouldn't it? :)

We're on 4.3.7. I agree with Jim, just making it the first choice would be enormously helpful and remove the need to force people to choose it. I'm sure that would be much better politically speaking.
