Is it possible to generate a table using the built-in chart macro where the table is placed outside the chart macro's body.
Basically what I am trying to do is to have the table rendered as well but have it surrounded with the {expand} macro so that whoever needs to see the actual data can see it as well. But if I surround it with the {expand} macro within the chart macro body, the chart macro doesn't pick up the data.
The only way i think it would be possible to achieve this is to have a duplicate table surrounded with the {expand} macro and not have the chart macro render the embedded data table as well.
Please no marketplace solutions... sorry.
After research... I have come to the conclusion that this is not possible with the built-in tools.
It seems that you are right and there are no any standard solutions to generate a built-in chart with a table outside its body. Besides the standard Chart macro works only with plain and simple tables.
I see that you asked not to recommend any marketplace solutions but I have to explain one difficulty that you may have while using the duplicate tables.
You should always remember that you have two tables (not one!) and make changes to both of them to keep your information up-to-date.
As a representative of the StiltSoft team, I can say that for such purpose we use our own app - Table Filter and Charts for Confluence. The Table Excerpt and Table Excerpt Include macros allow us to show and update the only one source table and build multiple different charts based on this table.
