Has anyone experienced an issue while writing articles in Atlassian where you highlight one section but then it highlights other parts of the article? How can I fix that? I've tried deleting my browsing history and clearing cache, but it's still the same.
I'm also encountering this with bulleted lists, where I highlight and when I release the mouse button, a chunk of other text is highlighted.
We are having this issue as well, started in last 2-3 weeks. Whenever we highlight text for selection in some kind of list (bulleted or numbers) huge amounts of unwanted text also gets selected as well.
It also appears to only occur when the list is located in an info panel or table (and perhaps some other text containers, but have not tested them all)

This just started happening to me immediately after I used the new continue numbering feature in a numbered list—I wanted to insert a note panel between steps 1 and 2, which changed step 2 to a 1, so I backspaced and entered 2.<space> to continue the numbering (as described in today's release notes https://click.e.atlassian.com/?qs=879bbb95fc5825bc7ac573c663bafccb3d76ee776c5bf2d465be65208a87941743d259401ffc8c696ed4821ec6735af45b2a8a2bcdf1360bcaf9275e88f26c4d ).
I tried publishing the page and opening it for editing again, but this made no difference.
I do see, however, that it only happens when I select text over paragraphs in my step 2 and the bulleted list items I have under it. If I select only the step 2 paragraph or a single bullet paragraph under it, the highlighting works fine. If I select multiple lines in other sections of my page, the highlighting also works fine.
@Sheela Orduña and @Sandra Estep do you know if you may have used this feature before this happened? From Sheela's screenshot, it doesn't look like you have inserted any paragraphs in your numbered list that would have made you need to change the numbering.

Now that you mention it, most of the articles we have do have numbered lists in them. I tried editing those that do not have numbered lists, and they're fine. It seems to only do this when there are numbered lists within the article.
If I select only the step 2 paragraph or a single bullet paragraph under it, the highlighting works fine.
This happens to me, too.

@Sheela Orduña This sounds like a defect, and I don't see one reported yet for this.
I am on a free plan right now, so I cannot report this. If you are able to do this, please link to this discussion in the ticket or feel free to use the information I provided on my experience.

Thanks for your help! I'm using Google Chrome Version 115.0.5790.171 (Official Build) (64-bit).
I need to use this browser for work, but I tried MS Edge and I'm still having the same problem.

@Sheela Orduña I am unable to reproduce the issue, I would suggest reaching out to Atlassian Support to find out the root cause.

I also have this issue, it's impossible to highlight more than 1 line in a document to reformat the lines without confluence selecting huge chunks of unwanted lines. This is a recent development, highlighting a selection of text was possible previously. This is hugely frustrating and time wasting. Please fix!

I am so glad I found this post - this issue is driving me bonkers. I often have repetitive requirements and often just want to copy/paste some text - the minute I try to select a few lines of text, it highlights the entire table. I'll attempt to log this, but seeing the hoops I may need to jump through to log the issue, I may lose the desire to do so :(
