Hi ! I created a template for my team in order to report monthly information. Firstly I simply create a template but I saw that it is possible to create a template with variables in order to make the writing easier (no one can modify the structure of the template but only put information in the dedicated blocks). I tried this format of template but I only can use it once and then if I want to modify the page it will be like an other ramdom template without the writing blocks.
My question is : Is it possible to always have the variables when modifying a template with them or this is only on the first time ?
I don't know if my question is clear, so tell me and I would rephrase it.
Thank you for your help
Hello Romane,
Welcome to Atlassian Community!
It seems you want to have some text on the page created with the template that does not disappears after the information is inserted, and you used the <variables> there, is that right?
I did some tests around here, but if you're creating a new page based on a custom template, if nothing is inserted as information on the variables boxes (be it text, multi-line text or list), it should disappear upon publishing the page.
Or if the information is inserted there, it should display the text inserted/chosen instead of the variable block.
If you're looking for having some text to serve as a guide for who is editing the page, you can use the placeholder text instead.
This text can also be replaced for users when editing the page, but as long it is not edited, it will remain there as a guide or suggestion to what kind of information should be filled there, in the edit mode.
I hope this information helps, but let me know if you need any additional information on how it works. :)
Cheers,
Jessica
Hi Romane,
If you're looking to create a template that contains variables and page structures that will never go away even after the second edit, check out this app Scaffolding Forms & Template by ServiceRocket that lets you do that.
Hope that helps!
