How do I add a task in confluence?

It shows that ability to add and assign tasks to people, etc but i cannot for the life of me figure this out. thank you!

From the documentation:

1. In the editor choose the Task list button or use the keyboard shortcut [ ]
2. Start typing your task - use @ to assign the task to someone or // to choose a due date.

Did you check task list macro? Create a page and add task list macro.
